Seems that this checkbox is somehow misleading...
According to issue 59364 (and the specification mentioned there) this checkbox
is useless on Unix systems. Only on Windows systems this setting controls
whether the the system highcontrast mode should be used instead of checking if
the system background color is dark.
I think this needs further discussion. I will take care of this problem.
