I was looking for "vertical text direction" and downloaded OO 2.1 because I thought 1.1 had no support for it. Then 2.1 for some reason has the button "Vertical Text" on the Drawing toolbar, but trying to make it a Visible Button has absolutely no effect, until you figure out that you need to enable Asian language support. Then you have to figure out how to do that. I am not sure what the value of restricting vertical text direction in this way to Asian language users only is.
