I can reproduce what you describe as problem1, but I think it is expected
("other" spreadsheet application behaves the same way). In order to include
empty cell you need to select the area first, then apply autofilter.
I also can reproduce second problem and this seems to be real issue.
CONFIRMING with OO 2.1 on WinXP and attaching screenshot.
