javaldx tries to find a suitable JRE. It needs to look into a variety of
folders. If it it finds a JRE then it runs it, in order to figure out what
version it has, what the vendor is, etc. It appears that kaffe fails to execute
JREProperties. This needed further investigation. However, this should be done
by someone who knows more about kaffee. Meanwhile you could install a JRE from
Sun. Once this was found and selected, javaldx will not repeat the search.
Please try that and let me know if it works.
