------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jan 17 14:44:24 -0800 2007 ------- When starting OpenOffice recently, I was asked if I wanted to recover the last document I had had open. While I was not aware that this document was in need of recovery, I trusted that OpenOffice might know something I didn't, so I said yes. It sat processing for a few seconds, then informed me that the document could not be recovered. I then tried to open the document, and much to my horror, discovered that the entire directory in which the document had been was drastically altered: the files that should have been there were gone, and instead there were several subdirectories and files with what looked like non-printable ASCII character strings for names and strange meta-information: sizes in the gigabyte range that were far too big for the media (this was on a 512-MB USB drive), and timestamps ranging from 1910 to 2099. (I swear I am not making this up.) Since the directory was fine right before running OpenOffice and was hosed right after trying to "recover" that document, I'm quite sure it was OpenOffice that messed it up. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
