Yes. The package doesn't need the core. It will not be dysfunctional when the core package is not installed. It will not be dysfunctional when the core package is removed. It is a valid package on its own since the mime-definitions make sense without the Office installed as well. There's no problem when the desktop package is installed before the core package either. The trigger will be run either way. When thinking about this.. You probably should move the creation/removal of the mailcap-entries to trigger scripts.
