------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 25 07:56:22 -0800 2007 ------- So the 'AutoExtension' toggle button, which is a highly expert feature, placed in a place that people can easily disable it by accident is not good news. When disabled, this has the effect of turning "foo" into a file named literally "foo" - which breaks (some) non-sniffed associations [eg. in a file list in the explorer ]. This patch basically assumes it is always on, and hides it in the UI. We should prolly do better than this by having a more intelligent "if there is an extn, and a filter is manually selected, don't override it / add an extn." But either way, this is an improvement I think. Customer feedback: "This has bugged me since the beginning of Open Office...I don't like the easy access to the setting for "Automatic file name extension" found at the save dialog box. It is checked by default, which is good but is too easy for users to deselect. When deselected, their files appear as the gnome foot and it asks them what program should be used to open the file. This freaks users out and leads to unnecessary help desk time. Can that setting be tucked away in a down arrow, like the "Browse to other folders" arrow or the "File types" arrow. You could call it "options" or something like that." This is 1/2 the fix that helps with this; a trivial patch :-) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
