------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 25 21:34:37 -0800 2007 ------- Using Windows XP, Using OO 2.1, The original issue has been reported on version 2.0 Beta, but using version 2.1, the issue could be exactly reproduced. On OpenOffice Writer, Calc, or Impress start typing text In the following cases, the two hyphens will change to a dash automatically - If there is a space preceding AND following the two hyphens e.g. Text1 – Text2 Note: In this case the two hyphens have changed to a dash automatically - If there are no spaces preceding or following the two hyphens e.g. Text1—Text2 Note: This dash is longer in length than the one in the previous case In the following cases, the two hyphens will not change to a dash automatically - If there is a space either preceding OR following the two hyphens - If there is any character (other than alphabet) preceding or following the two hyphens (having space before or after the two hyphens does not make a difference). This was confirmed with the following characters, but most probably other characters will give the same result: “ / \ + ( , @ ~ ? < > In cases where the automatic dash is desired but the text contains a symbol, the text should be typed without any symbols at first. Once the first word after the two hyphens is typed and a space after that is inserted, the two hyphens are automatically changed to a dash and then the writer has to go back and insert the symbol. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
