I was able to repoduce this behavior on my Linux sytem (Gentoo,
xorg-server,nvidia driver)when scrolling upwards, so it doesn't seem to be
related to just single machines. Looks as if the clipping region of the window
is ignored when painting graphics, so that in case of painting a part of the
graphic at the top of the edit window gives a complete paint of the graphic
regardless of the clip region set.
The effect seems to appear only with transparent bitmaps, so that this painting
path should be evaluated in detail.
