------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Feb 5 18:33:20 +0000 2007 ------- This issue is being filed following an incident I experienced this morning. I opened an odt attachment from Thunderbird and after reading the document began editing it. I then saved my changes as an alternate version. I closed OpenOffice and later closed Thunderbird. When I went back to edit the file it was gone. Clearly thunderbird deleted the file and should have checked that the timestamp on the file was the original timestamp before deletion, but am I wrong to think that a friendly notice from OpenOffice would have helped? I'm filing a thunderbird bug next. I am accustomed to attachments being saved in my Document or Desktop folder. Because odt was a registered type Thunderbird offered to open the file, which is why it was saved to the temp folder instead. On my system $TMP is /tmp/user/%uid% - but OpenOffice knows that much and shows that value in the options. The same scenario could unfold for a Windows user editing a document in their IE Downloads folder. I would like to have notification when a document is about to be saved in a users temporary file location or other known volatile location, perhaps offering an alternative location. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
