Yes, it is safe to change fodler name and point it to where you already have
OO installed.
Yes, you can install in 'OpenOffice.org 2.1\' and your settings will be
preserved.
Yes, this problem is being addressed (see
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72560 ).
I asuggest voting for 72560 (and for issues 15220 and 69032, if you do not
mind).
I also suggest using forums like http://www.oooforum.org/ for further support
questions.
