when you open up the openoffice math GUI context on my linux installation
(Ubuntu - Gnome, with GTK integration and vanilla OOo installation, as apposed
to the Ubuntu one) the focus is not on the formula editing pane, and you have
to double click on the formula editing pane in order to type anything, since
the first click doesn't respond. This is as apposed to the behaviour on
windows, where opening a formula puts you into the formulae editor immediately.

I think this may be to do with the focusing under X, since it seems that when
you open the formulae you lose focus on openoffice
