------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Feb 15 12:09:47 +0000 2007 ------- Sorry for not responding earlier, but there is some kind of "real life" preventing me sometimes from faster reactions... So it seems that I'm too late concerning the decisions on that topic. But I want just to add my two cents: - The main question is, if the Brazilian community wants to keep their own brand considerably different from the OOo brand. It's not a topic of the name, it's about color and even more important a question of the birds. The Brazilian birds are no seagulls - I'm not an expert, but with their split tails they look much more like some kind of swallows or birds of prey. I'd like to keep the official shaped gulls because they are the only graphical element consistent from OOo 1.0 to nowadays. The same with the black color of the gulls and the version designation: They are part of the OOo visual identity. I understand that the Brazilian community worked hard on establishing BrOffice.org as their brand - but if they want to have it recognized as OpenOffice.org (= our brand) with different naming because of legal restrictions, we should try to get BrOffice.org closer to the official brand at every other place on earth. In my eyes the present BrOffice.org logo is too distinct from the OOo logo to become recognized as just a different label to the same content. If the Brazilian community decides to keep their brand as different brand from OOo it's up to them, but this would lead to a "derived work" even if the code would be the same (just my personal POV, of course). My proposal: Get BrOffice.org's logo as close as possible to the OOo logo. This might be a way in several steps because the brand has been established in Brazil by now. In my eyes several minor changes in the BrOffice.org brand might be possible without losing consistency with previous versions: - Keep the split-tailed birds as they are an important branding element to BrOffice.org - Move them in the position of the official gulls (above the logo) - Use the Black color known from OOo instead of the Blue for the birds and Green for the version designation - Keep Green for the "Br" part because that's the only part necessarily different from OOo's logo. - Finally (with the next major version OOo3.0) we should have the same logo except the Br/Open part. With a new major version of a program modifications on a logo are easier to be established than with minor version. This work might be coordinated in the Art project. I'll add a .png image of my proposal as well as the .svg source to this issue. The BrOffice.org logo in my proposals is different from Claudios (filhocf) marca.svg because I used the present font for the "Office.org" part. Best Bernhard (who thinks, that there might be a more appropriate place for such discussions than an issue...) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
