Tried this on W2K SP4, OOo 2.1  Yes, it fixes problem.  But, by the time I had
set some my of (lost) preferences and open and closed a few documents behaviour
had returned.

Mote: this was happening totally independently on 2 separate PCs, on different
OS, at different locations under different usage.  Also has ALWAYS happened
since OOo 2.1 update loaded.
