This did not resolve the drag and drop of text problem. Therefore, I now suspect that there is a problem between OOo and Ubuntu Edgy amd-64, and the fault may lie more with Ubuntu than with OOo. As a result I filed a bug report with Ubuntu as well: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org-amd64/+bug/85248 This smells to me of a conflict or a missing module, because it affects only a small number of users of OOo 2.0.4 on Edgy amd64.
