We have a lot of issues that seem to be important and we can't work on all of them at once. Fortunately this issue seems to be something that a clever C++ developer should be able to implement even without a deep knowledge of the Writer internals, so we ask all interested people with development capabilities in C++ to help us with this enhancement. Of course some teaching will be necessary in the starting phase but support from our side is guaranteed.
