The outline view as it was implemented many many years ago never had this feature in mind. The bad thing is that the outline view is in a very bad shape, implementation wise. It is not possible to add any feature without a prior rework of the whole outline view implementation. We are talking about at least half a man year of work and that is for someone who already has a lot of experience in the impress code.
