I checked with "2.2.0RC2 Multilanguage/German version WIN XP:
[680m9(Build9124)]" and saw that typeface toggling with toolbar buttons works
unreliable.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached 'sample1.odt'
2. Mark a range containing several paragraphs and various styles:
2.1. Moseclick into empty line after "Zu einzelnen Positionen"
2.2. scroll until end of text
2.3. <shift>+<mouseclick> in empty line after last text line
     "im Rahmen der Inbetriebnahme"
3. Press button 'Italic' in toolbar 2 times or more often
expected: starting with second click style should be toggled between 'italic'
and 'not italic' for all marked text
   actual: style remains 'italic'
4. Press button 'Bold' in toolbar 2 times or more often
expected: starting with second click style should be toggled between 'bold'
             and "not bold"
actual: style becomes 'bold' and remains
5. Press button 'Underline' in toolbar 2 times or more often
expected: starting with second click style should be toggled
             between 'underline' and "not underline"
actual: style becomes 'underline' and remains

Now please try 2.0.2 and compare: with 2.0.2 all will work as expected.
It seems that the problem appears if different typefaces exist within the
highlighted text area.
It seems to be an UI problem and not a formatting problem, because everything
works as expected using menu 'Format > Character ... > Font > Typeface'

I checked with "2.2.0 Dev. Snapshot WIN XP: [680m7(Build9118)]" and saw that
the bug also exists for that version
