well, in dBase (the format used for the bibliography), every record takes as
much spaces as specified for all fields together. That is, even if you do have a
1-character title, in the underlying file it would take up 255 characters - for
every record. Similar for all other fields.

Finally, I don't have a strong opinion on the best field length, I just think 75
is a good compromise.

fs->tv: what do you think about increasing this?
