In a default UI setup the automatic selection checkbox is not (repeat NOT) activated. The user will thus fall into this black hole without doing anything wrong - except if his blue-eyed trust in the system's common sense is seen as a valid user error - I reiterate my (minimal and "works-for-me") suggestion: automatic selection checkbox should be checked on installation.
