I asked how to do it on the users@openoffice.org email list how to do it. The trick is: click beside the frame and then inside the frame. Maybe this is worth a request for enhancement, so that the focus is directly inside a frame when is is created? NB When a frame (or graphic, or object) is selected and you press ESC, the selection is ended and the cursor goes to the text beside it.
