Another scheme (may be in ADDITION to the one described above):

1. The user creates the find string and the replace strings exactly the way he
wants.

2. He presses CTRL+F. The Find and Replace dialog pops up.

3. He drags and drops the strings with all attributes in the "Find" and "replace
with" boxes. 

4. Provide TWO "use formatting as entered" check boxes (one for the "Find" box,
the other for the "Replace with" box). 

If this check box is unchecked, then Writer will ignore the formatting in the
entered string while searching and/or replacing, as the case may be.
