In best-case scenario this might be fixed for 2.3, but you have to present compelling reasoning to give it priority over other defects - see http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/why_all_issues_are_equal For starters, vote for this issue and describe how this feature is used if working properly and how competition behaves.
