I think it would work - I didn't tried it, but I believe mloiseleur. It introduces a another special case at the code, which cmc already has mentioned Jan. 2006 and as mloiseleur already stated it works for French. But, I think, as also cmc already proposed, a more general solution would be sensible. Have a look at the second table on the website http://l10n.openoffice.org/i18n_framework/LocaleData.html. There you found the information, for which languages a general special treatment should be introduced.
