I can confirm this issue with
- OOo 2.2.0, Windows 2000 SP4
- OOO 2.2.0, Ubuntu Linux 6.10

As long as you do not set the Area Fill of the Text Box from 'None' to 'Color'
everything is fine. As soon as you set the Area Fill to 'Color' a doubleclick
will make all the text disappear.
