Only pressing reset button would reboot machine. My Sun Java is the latest version. I since read somewhere to change the openGL option so I went into options, which I could do through the Writer part of the program and under View I put a checkmark next "Use openGL" and "Optimized Output" and that seemed to solve the crashing problem.
