This is a clone of Novell bug 239193
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=239193 . The original bug reporter
writes:

one of my customers often gets xls documents containing addresses.
When adding such a document as address source, fields with leading 0 vanish
from the table (when opening the resulting .odb file in base, or in the
serial print preview dialog). Consequently, those fields are missing on e.g.
printed address labels. In germany exists a region, where zip codes start with
0 - omitting them is uhhmm, problematic..

I'm using OpenOffice_org-2.0.4-1.10 on SuSE 9.3 here.
