I can confirm this. The problem is not just with a Calc data source, it is with
any data source when escape processing (ep) is turned on.
Turning ep off for hsql or MySQl allows this type of query to run, but then of
course you are not allowed to update the returned result set.
Using a Spread sheet as the data source does not offer this work around.
