2007 -------
The scenario has a number of variances - however - basically :-
1) create worksheets in Excel .
2) in 1 worksheet have references to cell names .
3) make a copy of the original file but without this last worksheet .
4) copy over this last worksheet .
5) delete the cells contents .
6) save the file .
7) import the file into OpenOffice Calc - this is where the problem , and the
solution arrises .
At this point Calc will highlight that there are external references and give
the option of Yes - which will actually delete the external references - and -
No - which will retain them - however Calc doesn't exactly explain this . As
such it looks like a problem Excel side - not calc side - hence - Issue resolved
. However a more friendly , better documented ( in box ) and more sophisticated
solution Calc side would be appreciated - rather than having to spend hours
mucking about with it to find a solution .
