Fortunately I did see that Calc does indeed have that feature via the paste special> unformatted text. I think that the way of accessing the calcs method of data>text to columns is too obscure to find for many users; after all ms excel has the text to columns feature in a huge icon with its data banner. I am thankful that there is the paste special> unformatted text>delimited feature.
