TL, CL and myself made a deeper investigation of this problem. Here are our
findings:
- The used so-called Outliner uses the EditEngine to model numbered paragraphs
- The Outliner uses the left margin and the first line indent of the paragraph
in the EditEngine in order to bring the position and space attributes of the
list style into the EditEngine. Thus, the attributes are mapped to each other
during the existence of a document. This mapping causes the negative values for
text:min-label-width, if a postive first line indent is applied to a numbered
paragraph.
- The export of such a numbered paragraph writes the paragraph attributes left
margin and first line indent as well as the list style position and space
attributes - namely the indent and the minimal width for the list label.
- The ODF specification clearly states that the paragraph left margin and the
indent for the list label are added. This isn't implemented by the
Outliner/EditEngine code. Thus, this is another serious defect - the ODF, that
has been written, isn't interpreted as it has to be.
- A *sensible* correction of these defects will have a high effort.
- A correction of these defects would also cause an "incompatibility" to
previous versions of OpenOffice.org.
