When I use a monitor resolution under 1280x1024, the default that Ubuntu assigns
to me, the page displayed in OpenOffice.org Writer and Drawing is bigger than it
should be. At 100% magnification in Print Layout view, the rulers are longer
than real rulers, and drawing objects set to a given size are larger than they
should be. (I made the blue rectangle in the attached screenshot 3 inches wide
in the "Position and Size" dialog box, but as you can see, it's slightly wider
than that.) This effect— i.e. the degree of artificial magnification— increases
as I decrease my screen resolution. It doesn't happen at 1280x1024.

There's an extent to which you could construe this effect as a feature, I guess,
but I think the idea behind Print Layout view is to show what the page will
really look like when it's printed. But it prints at the correct size.
