Problem 1 is already fixed in 680m1 (see issue 41324; has the same root cause).
Problem 2 is not a bug. Optimal wrap means, that the text should flow around the
objects side, which offeres more space for the text. Either the left or the
right side, never both on "optimal wrap". Set to "Page wrap" if text should
flow on both sides.
