Hi Michael,
similar to my comments in issue 78495, your profiler performance observations
are true (and known), and do indeed drive some of the refactoring that I'm
currently working on. And you're right in that much of the current fine granular
locking can simply be removed in favor of a single Mutex (that already exists
and is mostly locked at the right places, already).
Please bear with me, as I continue with my refactorings of module store
[probably I need to start commiting parts of the changes that are ready, though
that seems to force additional work for me in untangling them into separate
patches].
I'm keeping this issue to justify specifically this planned change.
