Please check this: Do you use the WinXp Home or Professional version? For the latter, does the font directory has set the correct rights, does it work for an administrator account? Is "Windings" listed in the drop-down list of fonts inside OOo? Can you copy that Windings-character via charmap to Calc? (WINDOWS\System32\charmap.exe) Can you use that character in Windows Notepad or Wordpad? Can you use that character in OOo-Writer? Have you tried to reinstall the font?
