For clarification: This issue has been split into three parts, because it has
become much too broad.
- issue 16032 for selecting optional OT features
=> this will probably have to be split up into UI/GSL/import-export issues
- issue 43029 for better PS-OpenType support (aka. "OTF-Fonts" or "SFNT-Fonts
with CFF glyphs")
- issue 78749 for problems of text that is detected as Latin but needs unicode
combining
- there are hundreds of other potential issues for implementation details of
supporting each and every
feature defined in
http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/opentype/index_tag3.html and http://
www.microsoft.com/typography/otspec/ttoreg.htm

@mbayer: I'm not sure if there is too much overlap between users requesting
support for each of the
distinct points mentioned above. Though I agree that there are unfortunate
aspects to splitting an
important issue like this into manageable parts. E.g. it would probably be easy
to get thousands of
votes on an issue named "fix all interoperability issues with other office
suites" but this wouldn't help
much except to raise awareness and visibility of an important long term goal.
