I disagree. Of course it will me useful for _most_ applications to have the standard font of the text selected for special font, but at the latest for the second character you want to insert you _have_ selected that font. On the other hand: If someone has some text where he has to insert several dingbats from some graphic symbol font, he will be rather unhappy if he has to select that font again and again for special characters, because the default selection always has switched back to the text font ARIAL. So a change would not bring any progress at all, and I close this issue as WONTFIX. Pls. feel free to reopen this issue if you can contribute some evident examples where a modification of the current behaviour would bring progress for all needs, and a really conclusive solution how that change should look (checkbox in preferences? Extended 'Insert Special Characters' dialogue? ... ?'
