The fill characters in front of tabs are supposed to be evenly distributed.
However, in some situations those characters are unevenly distributed (either
some of them have extra spacing between them, or some are bunched closer to
each others.

This problem is noticed in exported PDFs when using a different font, such
as "Verdana". I have not noticed it when looking at the text on the
screen in Writer or when using "Times New Roman", making me suspect that
it has something to do with PDF exporting and/or font metrics.

For example (in crude ASCII art representation):
Expected output:
   foo . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . bar
Defective output:
   foo . . . . ... .. . . . . . . . . . .......... bar

Instructions to reproduce:
1. Create a new Writer document.
2. Type some text, a TAB character, and some more text.
3. Format that paragraph using the default "Contents 1" paragraph style.
4. Change the font of that paragraph to "Verdana" (the problem is
not apparent in the default "Times New Roman" font). Either
do this by simply selecting the text and changing it, or changing
the font in the definition of the "Contents 1" paragraph style.
4. Create a PDF file using the menu item File > Export as PDF...
5. View or print the PDF file, and look closely at the spacing of the dots.

I've tried this using OpenOffice.org Writer 2.2 under Microsoft Windows
and Ubuntu 7.04. Both show the problem, although different parts of the
line of fill characters comes out uneven.
