I would note two points regarding the template:

First, the template is for industry standard-sized purchased cardstock so the
alignment is not something that is or can be too flexible if a printout would
align properly.  This might explain in part the curious paper sizing.

Second, due to the necessities of point one, I did not "design" page sizing and
margins manually.  Rather, I started with OO's option to design a new business
card using a predefined template.
