Using a Dell XPS M1210

1 Purchased download of Norton 360. Was unable to install. Norton's technician
told me to delete all temporary files. 360 then installed successfully.
2 Was then unable to open OO by means of 'start', shortcuts or 2-clicking
documents.
3 Uninstalled OO.
4 Downloaded new copy of OO.
5. OO will now open.
6. All my documents seem to have been renamed with a '._' (dot underscore) in
front.
7. When I try to open a document I get an 'ASCII Filter Options' dialog box. I
click OK.
8. All I then get is a line of text as follows:
############################# ###2###
#######R####W8BNMSWD########################
8 Cannot solve it and am very concerned about loss of a lot of work.
