------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 22 14:30:21 +0000 2007 ------- This is an elaboration of Issue 74987, with more detail. If someone scrolls through the main openoffice.org options looking for a setting and makes the unfortunate mistake of landing on the Java entry, the system becomes unresponsive until the application has identified all JVM installations on the machine. In my case, this takes a considerable period of time, as in several minutes. If I am fortunate enough to have saved my work, it's quicker to terminate the process and restart OO. This is unreasonable. Most users, and the OS think that the application is hung because it's not responding to events. This search code needs to be responsive to windows events, in particular to a user's attempts to move off this particular setting. It might be an idea to bring up dome sort of progress dialog that shows the user that a process is underway, and to give the user the option of aborting the search. Thank you for your consideration. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
