I wonder if it's been fixed in 2.2.1 since that's the version I'm running in Windows and I can't duplicate the problem there. The latest OpenOffice.org version in their updates repositories is 2.2.0. Perhaps we should try removing the rpms and test install 2.2.1 from the OpenOffice.org download site.
