The problem lies within the Apache XSLT processor, which is not capable of a XML
file of such size.
Every XSL transformation would fail, not only XHTML.
Imagine that the 16 MB is a zipped format and the XML input stream would be
unpacked and all images are embedded BASE64 encoded, which enlarges them again.
But the problem would be solved, when using the Saxon XSLT processor..
