The long and interesting discussion above should have taken place in issue 72957 (which deals with this very linguistic.xcu file), not here. I confirm that deleting the linguistic.xcu in the share folder IS the workaround. I've advised this from the beginning and it has always been fine afterwards. The issue I reported here deals with the dics FOLDER which is REPLACED at installation or upgrade of a new OOo version (no dictionary installation).
