------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Aug 22 12:30:27 +0000 2007 ------- On opening certain .xls files, created in excel, openoffice calc hangs with a blank grey window. The process soffice.bin consumes almost all CPU time and the application does not start even after leaving for several minutes. When terminated with task manager, the windows error reporting dialog shows: szAppName : soffice.bin szAppVer : 1.9.9153.500 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 The sample excel spreadsheet comprises only very basic formulae and is tiny in size. The same has happened with numerous other excel spreadsheets. The problem occurs both when opening files from within calc and from windows with calc as the default application for .xls. I have OO 2.2.1 but am not aware of the "RC". It is not mentioned in the about box so it may be plain 2.2.1. I will try to attach the sample file and screenshot but I'm not familiar with this and presume the option to do so is after I have submitted.
