------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Sep 4 14:09:53 +0000 2007 ------- Hi, I am using OOo-dev 2.3.0. on a Windows XP machine and I would like to provide some feed-back to the developer of the Report Builder. It works on my machine and it was quite easy to discover how to use it (I have experience with MS Access reports). Thanks for the good work! The issues that I found are: - I have a label field in the page header of the report, a formatted field in the detail section of the report and a formatted field in the page footer of the report; if I keep them vertically alligned to the right in "Edit" mode they are shifted when I run /generate the report. So to have the header and data alligned when the report is run I have to misallign the fields when the report is in "Edit" mode. The misallignment seems to be higher when the fields are further away to the right margin of the report. - I have the report in "Edit" mode; I have a field selected (there are 6 green small squares around the field); I try to add another field or label to the report by clicking on the appropriate icon and then click and drag on the report section where I want the new field added. The field is not added - only a rectangle with dashed line appears (looks like a selection) and the size of it changes when I move the mouse. I have to press "ESC" to get out of this state and then click multiple times on the "Select" icon and multiple times on the "Text box" or "Label" icons from Report Controls Toolbar before the field can be created. If I start with no field selected in my report then it is much easier to add fields in the report. - I have a report that is based on a query which SQL's is changed in Basic so the number of rows is variable; this report has a page number field inserted in the page header; when I run the report it initially shows 52 pages and after a while it changes to 13 pages; 13 is the right number - when it shows 52 it is still running; Generating the report takes about 2 minutes on a Centrino Duo, XP, 2GHz with 1GB RAM. I moved the same database on a P4 with Vista, 3GHz, DDR533 1GB and it took 15 minutes for the exactly same report. Running the query takes very little - a few seconds at most, the table has less than a thousand rows; the report builder consumes the remaining time. It seems quite long. -Is there any documentation for the Report Builder? I could not find anything usefull. I am attaching the database without any data into tables; I opened issue 81217 in case you also get the "no script" error :) . The main form is "_Principal".
