However, in Open Office Calc 2.2.1, it opens but the Japanese lettering cannot be seen (garbled). Looks rather like when you are trying to use a western font to display Japanese, but we tried changing the font and no benefit. If we open the file in Excel and save again, then it opens in Open Office without problems.
