------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 26 07:40:03 +0000 2007 ------- GUI installer on Linux just shows garbled characters instead of Japanese ones on Fedora 7. This problem occurs in the case of LANG=ja_JP. It seems that inappropriate default font settings of JRE cause this problem, which is well known among Java on Linux users. If it's true, the same problem may occur on not only Fedora 7 but also other Linux distributions. http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/FaqI18nLinuxAsianFonts http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/FaqInstallLinuxAsianFontsJa For each Linux system, two workarounds of this general problem - modifying font.properties - making symboic link in jre/lib/fonts/fallback to the directory which includes TrueType font files are also well known. However, those workarounds completely depends on what and where TrueType font is installed. We need to seek other good solution that doesn't depend on them, or workaround that works on major Linux distributions. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
