Well, the patch might prevent the crash, however the MergePortions function does
not work anymore like expected. The intention of this function is to 'merge'
adjacent portions which have the same attributes. The attached patch breaks
this. The correct fix is to make sure that the hints array is sorted at the
beginning of MergePortions.
Fixed in cws sw8u9bf02.
