Good for this issue anyway. Now "After that, I manually added the "gcc
visibility check" (stlvisok stuff) and that still fails :/"

Please follow up to that problem in the other issue, as they are now clearly
unrelated issues. Attach the output of 
echo "#include <string>" | gcc -x c++ -E - > /tmp/string.ii
I suspect that the test is simply correct and that the gcc 4.0.X headers are not
safe for use with visibility enabled, but your output will clarify if this is
the case.
